
Dr Shim is a Gastroenterologist and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP). She obtained her medical qualification (BSc (Med), MBBS) at University of New South Wales and went through physician and gastroenterology training at Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Nepean Hospital in NSW. She later completed two years of motility fellowship at Royal North Shore Hospital where she obtained her Master's Degree specialising in Chronic Constipation. Dr Shim has full accreditation for gastroscopy and colonoscopy with the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA) and is a member of the Australian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association (ANMA) and American College of Gastroenterology (ACG).
Special Interests
Dr Shim manages a variety of gastrointestinal and liver conditions including Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Bowel Cancer screening, and Viral Hepatitis. Her special interest is in Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders including Reflux Disease, Dyspepsia, Chronic Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She runs an Oesophageal Function Clinic and performs Oesophageal High-Resolution Manometry and 24hr pH studies at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Nepean Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
Current Positions
She is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Sydney and Clinical Lecturer at Macquarie University Hospital. She has clinical appointments at Concord Repatriation General Hospital, Nepean Hospital and Macquarie University Hospital.
Research
Dr Shim's research interests involve the understanding of the pathophysiological process of Functional Gastrointestinal Disorders and its psychological manifestations. She has had multiple publications in the area of Chronic Constipation and Irritable Bowel Syndrome and currently has research trials involving Laryngopharyngeal Reflux and Functional Dyspepsia.

Educational Presentations
Dr Shim has been an invited speaker at the Australian Medical Acupuncture College in November 2025 to present on the topic of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. She was also invited to discuss Laryngopharyngeal Reflux Disease at the Australia and New Zealand Rhinologic Society in September 2025.
Dr Shim has been invited on multiple occasions as a speaker at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to present on the topic of oesophageal disorders.

Dr Cositha Santhakumar is an accredited Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist, providing quality, patient-centred care across general gastroenterology, liver disease and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy). She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of New South Wales and completed her Basic Physician Training and Gastroenterology training at Concord Repatriation General Hospital. She completed her subspeciality training with a fellowship in liver transplantation at the Liver Transplant Unit, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Dr Santhakumar has completed a PhD in liver cancer immunology through the University of Sydney at the Charles Perkin Centre. She gained further clinical research trial experience at Auckland City Hospital where she also worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist before returning to Sydney.
Current Appointments
Dr Santhakumar is currently a Staff Specialist in the Department of Gastroenterology at Blacktown Hospital. She also holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney.
Dr Santhakumar is certified provider in gastroscopy and colonoscopy by the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is a member of the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA). She performs diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy and colonoscopy at Macquarie University Hospital and Blacktown Hospital.
Special Interests
Dr Santhakumar is committed to delivering comprehensive, compassionate and multidisciplinary care. She manages a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions, including bowel cancer screening, liver disease, iron deficiency anaemia, coeliac disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux, dyspepsia, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhoea, constipation and inflammatory bowel disease. Dr Santhakumar has a particular interest in the diagnosis and management of various liver diseases.
Research
Dr Santhakumar has authored several publications in international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of gastroenterology and liver disease. Her primary research interest focuses on the role of immune cells within liver tumours and how they influence responses to current therapies. She has presented her research at several international conferences and was awarded the Sydney Cancer Partners PhD Scholarship by the Cancer Institute of New South Wales, in addition to receiving grants and awards recognising her research contributions.

Meaghan Joyce is a passionate and dedicated Dietitian with extensive experience in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics. A compassionate Dietitian who is passionate about helping others achieve their health and wellness goals through personalised nutrition counselling and education.
Meaghan earned her Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney in 2000. This followed a Bachelor of Medical Science from the University of Sydney graduating in 1995 and a career in Biochemistry/Haematology. As an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Meaghan is committed to upholding the highest standards of professional practice and she stays updated on the latest research and developments in the field.
Throughout her career, Meaghan has worked in various settings, including public hospitals, Prince of Wales Hospital/St George Hospital, Macquarie University Hospital, spinal care facilities and private practice including NDIS. Her diverse experience has allowed her to develop a holistic approach to nutrition counselling, considering the unique needs and preferences of each individual. She is known for her compassionate and client-centred approach, always striving to empower her clients to make sustainable and positive changes to their dietary habits in a non-judgemental style.
In her clinical practice, Meaghan has worked with clients of all ages and backgrounds, specialising in Neurological diseases (Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease), Enteral nutrition (PEG feeding), Diabetes management, Gastrointestinal issues, Heart health, Menopause, Oncology and Cancer prevention, Malnutrition, Renal issues, Healthy eating and tailored Weight Advice including HAES (Health at every size) and post Bariatric surgery consultations. She believes in the power of education and empowerment, equipping her clients with the knowledge and skills they need to make sustainable changes to their eating habits.
Outside of her professional pursuits, Meaghan enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, exercising and entertaining. She is also passionate about cooking and loves experimenting with new recipes and ingredients in her kitchen. Meaghan firmly believes that food should not only nourish the body but also be enjoyed.
